About Us

What is the North Idaho AHEC?

The North Idaho AHEC is focused on improving health care for all Idahoans living in the northern part of the state. The primary focus is workforce development, helping create new health professionals and retaining those currently serving the area.

Why is North Idaho AHEC under the University of Idaho umbrella?

The University of Idaho has the state’s premiere medical program. Working in collaboration with the University of Washington, U of I trains physicians on its Moscow campus and at medical sites across the state – and has since 1972. The WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho) medical program has heavy emphasis on rural health care to meet the needs of the state.

What can North Idaho AHEC do for healthcare providers?

North Idaho AHEC is the conduit between health care needs and providers. Do you want to practice in rural Idaho? Enhance your existing practice? Train to be a provider and serve a rural area? North Idaho AHEC is the resource to help you achieve your professional health care goals.
