Cory Williams - “Keeping time in the land of the midnight sun: daily and seasonal rhythms of arctic ground squirrels”

February 16th
1:30-2:20pm
College of Natural Resources Room 10

Cory Williams, Assistant Professor, Institute of Arctic Biology and Department of Biology & Wildlife, University of Alaska Fairbanks

Cory has a B.S. in Biology from Simon Fraser University (2000), a Ph.D. in Marine Biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks (2008), and was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Alaska Anchorage and the University of Alberta (2009-15). He was a Research Assistant Professor at Northern Arizona University (2015-17), prior to starting his current position at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. His research program focuses on the ecological and evolutionary drivers of intra- and inter-specific variation in daily and seasonal timing with the goal of developing a better understanding of how physiological and behavioral plasticity corresponds with population resilience to environmental change. Rather than focusing on one particular level of biological organization, he strives to develop an integrated understanding across hierarchical levels, from molecules to cells to organisms to populations.
