Daytime Distractions
“What’s happening in the Commons today?” is a question we get all the time. It may be giant Jenga, or a musical performance by a student. You may see a robust debate among students running for ASUI Senate, or an interactive art piece.
Daytime Distractions is a weekly series in and around the Idaho Commons to give you a smile during the day. The co-curricular experience is our life-work; the stuff that supplements the in-classroom work. Live off-campus? Let the Commons be your living room, we’ll provide the entertainment.
Our daytime series includes:
All you need is love…and a massage every now and then. As levels of stress are rising we’re here to help ease your troubles away. Featuring mechanical massage cushion, and calming sounds to ease you into the week. Sign-ups taken onsite for 10 minute sessions.
A live broadcast with on-air talent from ZFUN 106 FM radio station. Between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. campus entities sign up to share on-air to the Palouse Community. Meet in the Vandal Student Lounge with answers to the: who, what, when, where, and why of your event or cause. Sign up for a slot here.
Let our student-run campus radio station KUOI 89.3 FM dazzle your eardrums with fresh music in the Commons Food Court from noon-1 p.m. This once a month event gives the good vibes to get your through your Wednesday. They also take requests!
We LOVE to highlight student talent. We provide the stage, tech, a little bit of money, and promotion, you share your talent with the campus. Send a recording of your music or stage talent to [email protected]. Performers need to be available from Noon-1 on Wednesdays or Thursdays.
Ball pit, giant checkers, cookie decorating…the list goes on and keeps getting better with big ideas from our interns. Spy the action in the Vandal Student Lounge each Wednesday for some FUN!
