University of Idaho faculty and staff can apply or be nominated for the following awards. Nominations are closed for the 2018-2019 academic year. Look for the next opportunity in Spring 2020.
The James A. Barnes Memorial Award was created by the Associated Students University of Idaho to honor an outstanding U of I staff member who displays extraordinary enthusiasm and service to students
Barnes was the director of High School Relations, now known as New Student Services, from 1975 to 1984. He died of cancer at the age of 36. His incredible energy, sense of humor and joy of living was an inspiration to many young people.
Any current University of Idaho staff member is eligible is apply or be nominated. U of I students, faculty, staff and administrators may nominate candidates.
This award acknowledges outstanding service to undergraduate students above and beyond normal faculty obligations.
Any faculty member currently in a teaching position at the University of Idaho who has not received this award in the past two years is eligible.
Faculty advisors have been a part of students' extracurricular activities since the 1890s, when U of I administration encouraged the development of student organizations in order to discourage young men from frequenting local saloons.
Today, organization advisors still play a vital role in the lives of students. They give of themselves and their time to enhance co-curricular experiences of students. This award was created in recognition of the work student organization advisors do above and beyond professional responsibilities.
Each nominee must be a University of Idaho faculty or staff member who serves as advisor to a recognized student organization. People who have student organization advising responsibilities as part of their employment duties are not eligible.
