Tutxinmepu Powwow

tutxinmepu-2017

The Native American Student Center, in conjunction with the Native American Student Association and the University of Idaho, hosts the Tutxinmepu Powwow each year. Tutxinmepu is a Nez Perce word meaning “the place where the deer loses its spots.” Dancers, drummers and audiences come from across the Northwest and Canada to participate in this visual and artistic representation of the strength and vitality of the Native culture.

Join us for our 18th annual Tutxinmepu Powwow:

Saturday, April 1

Grand Entry at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center
Event is free and open to the public. Access will be allowed through the west entrance of the Kibbie Dome starting at 2 p.m.

Sunday, April 2

Grand Entry at 1 p.m. in the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center
Event is free and open to the public.

The Native American Student Center welcomes Black Otter as host drum, Buck Wallahee and Mary Harris as Head Man and Head Woman, respectively, and Casey Wallahee as Master of Ceremony.

Join us as we continue to honor our traditions and culture through drum, prayers and dance. This is a free event for all, so whether you'll be dancing or enriching yourself by appreciating Native American culture, be sure to invite your friends and family.
