Dickinson Computer Science Scholarship Fully Funded By Art and Michelle Beale
Art and Michelle Beale met at HP. Art was on the team that interviewed Michelle for her first position in software engineering. Art and Michelle worked on the same team for the first 18 months of Michelle’s HP career and became friends. This friendship formed the foundation for their eventual marriage and lifelong partnership. The Beales believe that “when you have a gifted teacher in your life, it changes you,” which is why they are making the gift to fully fund the John Dickinson memorial scholarship endowment. Michelle encountered computer science professor, John Dickinson in her senior year when he taught her Senior Design course. John inspired Michelle through his teaching style and down-to-earth approach. He was accessible to the students and committed to their success. Through this gift, the Beales are paying tribute to his memory and honoring the life he lived. Through this scholarship, the Beales hope to offer extra encouragement for women students in computer science. They believe that given the right instructor, students of all levels and abilities can excel. For more information on how to support the college’s computer science program please email Assistant Dean for Development Bobbi Hughes or call 111-111-5303.
