A Gift to Grow Female Enrollment in Engineering
Lisa and Bruce Grow have stepped forward with a $50,000 gift to help in the college’s goal to increase the number of women in engineering. Their gift will support events with the U of I chapter of Society of Women Engineers to encourage current women students and prospective engineering students who aspire to leadership positions. The Grow’s gift will also allow the college to build a mentorship network and engage prominent alumnae so current women students can meet other women engineering professionals. Lisa, a 1987 graduate in Electrical Engineering and the current Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Idaho Power, knows the value of mentorship. She and Bruce hope to inspire more women to pursue engineering as a profession and aspire to leadership roles. With the Grow’s help the college will bolster resources to realize its ambitious goal of tripling the number of women students by 2025.
