John C. Wahl thinkTANK
The John C. Wahl thinkTANK, located in the Janssen Engineering building across from the Dean's office, is a one stop shop for academic success.
The thinkTANK is a community engineering space that serves the logistical needs of students such as academic advising, course registration, financial aid and career and internship counseling.
The thinkTANK also acts as vibrant learning and collaboration environment where, students can meet to work on projects or homework or receive help from peer tutors. The glass walled space includes two private conference rooms with whiteboards and a large meeting room with over ten tables, club chairs, a couch, a white board that spans wall and audio video projectors and screens for presentations and collaboration.
The thinkTANK also acts as a central location for college events such as guest lectures by industry partners, guests and activities like the Freshmen Seminar Series and the college clubs and organizations fair.

History
In 2009, then College of Engineering Dean Donald Blackketter envisioned a “one stop shop” within the college for academic success. His idea was to develop a state-of-the-art environment to enhance the student experience by providing a central location for engineering student services. The steel and curved glass facility conceived and built within the Janssen Engineering Building was finalized and unveiled under Dean Larry Stauffer and dedicated on Oct. 28, 2011. The completion of the space was made possible through the generous support of the Frances and John Wahl Foundation and Engineering Outreach.
The John C. Wahl thinkTank honors one of the College of Engineering’s most prominent alumni. John C. Wahl, graduated from the University of Idaho in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He was a veteran of World War II and had a long and vibrant career working in multiple engineering fields with companies such as Southern California Gas Company, Douglas Aircraft, Goodyear Aircraft and AiResearch Manufacturing Company, a division of the Garrett Corporation.
