Degree candidates should arrive at the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center dressed in their regalia beginning at 11:30 a.m. for line-up procedures. Behind the stage, undergraduates will locate their college, graduate students will locate the College of Graduate Studies, and law students will locate the College of Law. College banners will be posted. Locate the staff person(s) in charge and pick up your name card. Note: Late arrivals will not receive a reader card or sit with their college, making it difficult to cross the stage, so please arrive on time for line-up.
Full academic regalia is required for participation in the ceremony, including cap, tassel, and gown (plus a hood for graduate and law students).
Doors open at 11 a.m. General seating in the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center is free and on a first come basis, no tickets required, South Concourse Entrance. Concessions stands will be open, no alcohol or outside food allowed. will go on sale starting at 9 a.m., Oct. 17. Prices for premium seating are $500 for a suite (seats 12), or $20 for club seats.
Live web captioning in English and Spanish (subtítulos en Español) will be available for connection on your mobile device at the ceremony. Guests unable to attend the ceremony may watch it live online.
Official commemorative programs will be available for $10 at the ceremony. Flowers will be sold by the U of I Advertising Competition Team at the west entries to both the north and south concourses.
The President's Office will host a reception immediately following the ceremony. Degree candidates, their families and friends, and faculty are all invited to come together on the main floor of the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center. Light refreshments and photo opportunities will be provided.
Family and friends are urged to make as early as possible since Washington State University commencement takes place on the same day.
Degree candidates or guests with disabilities may request assistance. Please make the request as early as possible because requests on the day of commencement may not be easily accommodated.
University faculty are encouraged to attend and participate in the commencement ceremony in support of their students’ achievements. University staff are encouraged to attend the ceremony as well.
- Bag Checks: The University of Idaho is committed to continual improvement of our events and the safety and comfort of our guests. In the interest of enhanced safety, we will be conducting bag checks at all the entrances for the fall commencement ceremony. NO BAGS will be permitted for graduating students.
- Firearms and Weapons: Individuals, including concealed carry permit holders, may not bring a firearm into the ASUI Kibbie Dome Complex, The Memorial Gym, or the Bruce M. Pitman Center. The University has posted signs that specify this restriction as set out in Idaho Code Section 18-3309 (2). [ed. 1-15]. Additionally, university policy prohibits weapons of any sort (to include knives) being brought into the Kibbie Dome.
- Tobacco and Alcohol: The University of Idaho is a tobacco-free campus; the use of cigarettes, e-cigarettes and smokeless tobacco is not permitted on university property. Alcoholic beverages can only be consumed in approved locations on university property as per Idaho State Board of Education policy.
- Artificial Noise Makers: Artificial noise makers are not permitted for use during the commencement ceremony.
