University Convocation 2018
The University Convocation is the official welcome and start to the academic year. Some elements of convocation resemble commencement (graduation), which marks the culmination of education at the University of Idaho. In academia, the word "convocation" refers to a ceremonial assembly of the members of a college or university. It marks the beginning of the academic careers for students at U of I.
The 2018 Convocation ceremony is from 4-5 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, Aug. 16, in the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center. This year’s convocation message will be delivered by advertising executive Michelle Aragon, a 1997 graduate of U of I’s College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences.
The annual University Lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday, Aug. 17, on the Commons Plaza.
Convocation is part of U of I’s New Student Orientation program. See the full schedule of events here.
