There are 4-5 hours per month of face-to-face meetings that all participants should plan to attend, with no more than three hours of outside reading. Additionally, there are two retreats (fall and winter), as well as optional participation in the President’s Leadership Breakfasts.
The Leadership Academy is coordinated by Jeanne Stevenson, Vice Provost for Faculty and co-facilitated by Lynn Baird, Dean of the University Libraries and Elissa Keim, Director of Employee Development and Workforce Diversity.
Individual sessions are presented by a wide variety of leaders from across the university community, administrators, faculty members and deans.
All faculty and staff are welcome to apply for the 2017-18 cohort. The nomination/applications period generally occurs in late spring semester. Applications are reviewed by a selection committee and approximately 10-12 individuals are selected to participate each year. The selection committee looks for representation from Moscow, UI Campus Centers and Extension offices, length of University service (a minimum of 3 years is recommended) and a mixture of faculty and staff members from various departments and colleges across the university. Women and members of underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
