A Vandal Athlete’s Path to Success
Before junior student-athlete Kavita Battan came to the University of Idaho, she had a difficult time choosing her major. Through her Vandal family, mentors and coaches, she was able to find the perfect fit for her athletic and academic career goals.
“I’m fascinated by the myriad options within the School of Journalism and Mass Media,” Battan said. “I plan to make a career out of shooting and broadcasting live sports, which is something I’m very passionate about and can do long after playing soccer.”
The UI athletic program has taught Battan to work hard on and off the field to perform at her best. Her scholarships and public service opportunities have given her the tools she needs to succeed.
“My athletic scholarship has helped me pay for books, groceries and other living expenses,” Battan said. “I have also been given the opportunity to give back to my community by participating in mini camps for the Moscow United Soccer Club. Without the support I’ve received, I wouldn’t have been able to go to school and participate in the community as I’ve been able to as a member of the UI community.”
