First-Generation Student Finds Success in UI Programs
The University of Idaho gives students the resources and tools needed to help them successfully navigate the university. For first-generation college student Nicole Lichtenberg, UI played an integral part in her college success story.
“UI has helped by providing me and my family with the resources and the support that I needed to help me reach my fullest potential,” she said. “Through the UI Student Support Services/TRIO Program, I was provided individual academic and personal support that has led to my success.”
Once Lichtenberg earns her undergraduate degree in sociology and anthropology, she plans to attend graduate school in one of the social sciences. She believes that UI’s assistance through our quality programs and top-notch faculty and staff will allow her to have great success in her post graduate studies.
“The opportunities that the university has provided me are irreplaceable,” she said. “I especially appreciate the opportunity to work with professor Dilshani Sarathchandra. She opened my eyes to the amazing and varied field of Sociology.
Lichtenberg took several courses with professor Sarathchandra, and was honored to work side-by-side with her in conducting and presenting their research in Fall 2016.
