Configuring Outlook in Android
The University of Idaho runs on the Office 365 Exchange platform. Therefore, ITS supports the use of the Microsoft Outlook app available for Android tablets and phones. This tutorial will assist you in setting up your account in Office.
Go to the app store, or Google Play on most Android devices. Search for Microsoft Outlook, download and install the application.
Open the application once it is installed. Select Get Started on the opening screen to add your UI email account.
Type your full University of Idaho email address and select Continue. Outlook should automatically detect your account as an Office 365 Exchange account and redirect you to the UI login page.
Type in your password, and email if it does not appear automatically, then select Sign In.
Once you are logged in, Outlook will ask if you “would like to add another account now.” If you have multiple Outlook accounts or another UI account you would like to add, follow steps 1-4 above after tapping Let’s do it!
Once you are done adding your accounts, or only have the one account, select Maybe Later to proceed.
If this is the first time you have used Outlook on this device, it may take you through a short tour of the Outlook app features. These include the Focused Inbox, Calendar, and Attach Files features available through their interface.
- Press the arrow icon on the bottom-right to move through the tour.
- Tap the check mark at the bottom right to end the tour and continue to your mailbox.
- You can also skip this tour by selecting skip at the bottom-left of the screen.
Once you are in the inbox view, you can see your emails, as well as icons on the bottom of the screen that lead to other features. From left to right, these icons represent your inbox, calendar, documents and contacts. The icon that is blue, and not grey, is the feature you are currently viewing.
