Partnering with an Energy Giant

Haiyan Zhao, an assistant professor in chemical and materials engineering at UI Idaho Falls, received $118,041 from Battelle Energy Alliance LLC — managers of the Idaho National Laboratory — for “Investigation of Sonication Assisted Electrolytic Reduction of Used Oxide Fuel in Molten Salt.” Zhao is based at the Center for Advanced Energy Studies, a collaborative center that includes UI and INL.

Brian K. Johnson, a professor of electrical engineering, and James Alves-Foss, a professor of computer science, received $210,696 from Syracuse University for “TWC: Small: Securing Smart Power Grids under Data Measurement Cyber Threats.” Learn about Johnson’s past project securing power grids using simulation technology.
