Student Ambassadors

Ambassador Program

The College of Science Ambassador Program is designed to incorporate exceptional undergraduate students from within our college to aid in our recruitment and retention efforts and act as the official representatives of the College of Science to the community. Students are selected to serve as ambassadors through an application and interview process. Ambassadors are trained in university processes and given opportunities to enhance their communication and leadership skills through a one-credit course taught by Daniel Stelck.

Mission

The mission of the ambassador program is to promote the College of Science in a positive and professional manner to prospective and current students as well as faculty, staff and the community. Our ambassadors work directly with various university departments in order to serve as a public relations and institutional advancement team. The College of Science ambassadors strive to represent the college in a manner that exemplifies campus pride, display a sound knowledge about the College of Science and leave a positive and lasting impression of University of Idaho.

More Information

For more information about the program, contact Daniel Stelck at [email protected] or any of our current College of Science ambassadors.

Biology Major

Hi there! My name is Madison Bergeman and I am majoring in Biology with a minor in Pre-Health Professions and Spanish with the hopes of one day becoming a doctor. I have a passion for helping others and doing my part to give back to the community. I am from Nampa, Idaho, but consider Moscow to be my home away from home. On my free time, you can catch me doing crafty projects off Pinterest or hanging out with friends. I am delving into research here on campus working in Professor Parent’s lab and I could not be more excited to see where it takes me. I look forward to getting fellow students involved on campus and interested in the College of Science!

Microbiology Major

I am majoring in microbiology and am on the pre-med track. I plan to attend medical school after I graduate and eventually become a surgeon. I enjoyed volunteering in the Boise VA ER this summer and had some incredible experiences that I love sharing with people who appreciate science as much as I do! I have been a competitive jump roper for eleven years and enjoy doing it in my spare time. This summer, I earned the gold medal at nationals in female single rope freestyle in Orlando, Florida!

Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Major

Hi! My name is Courtney. I am a junior pursuing a Molecular Biology and Biotechnology major along with two minors in pre-health studies and bioethics. My passion has always been for genetics so my goal for the future is to pursue a career in either genetic research or become a Forensic DNA Analyst. Also, I am fortunate enough to be a part of the University of Idaho’s Honors Program, president of the Beta Theta chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta, and work in Professor Rowley’s research lab looking at genetic differences that cause sensitivity and resistance to killer toxins. In my spare time I love to draw, read, write, play volleyball, and hang out with my friends and family.

Chemistry Major

From an early age, I have been fascinated with math and science and how they help us to analyze the world we live in. As a chemistry major, I am enjoying delving into these subjects more deeply. When I graduate, I hope to teach math and chemistry at a middle school or high school level. In addition to science, I love participating in performing arts such as drama, singing, dancing, and playing the piano.

Microbiology Major

Hello! My name is Frankie. I am currently working towards a B.S. in Microbiology and a minor in Pre-Health Professions. I grew up in Eagle, Idaho but, I really love the role I play here in Moscow. At school, I love participating in research and have done so for the last year or so in a biology lab. I’m also lucky to be a part of many clubs on campus, like the Pre-Dental and Chemistry club. After my time here at University of Idaho, I hope to go to dental school. It’s been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Besides school, I enjoy playing for the women’s lacrosse team and intramural sports or being with my friends. I hope to see you around!

Microbiology and Medical Sciences Major

Hello! My name is Sue Winger, and I am from Spokane, Washington. I am double majoring in Microbiology and Medical Sciences with minors in Spanish and Pre-Health Professions Studies. I hope to pursue a career in the healthcare field where I can continue to explore my passions for science and serving others. I have been fortunate enough to complete three medical brigades to Central America (Nicaragua and Panama) that have only strengthened my desire to work in medicine in the future. I am also a Pre-Health Peer Mentor on campus and would love to chat with students about their pre-health professions path. Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, traveling, and hanging out with my family and friends. I truly believe the University of Idaho is an amazing place to study science, and I can’t wait to tell students all about the opportunities that await them!
