Christian Fritsen Joins U of I as Idaho EPSCoR Director

The Office of Research and Economic Development is pleased to announce that Christian Fritsen is the new director for Idaho EPSCoR, effective July 23, 2018. Idaho EPSCoR represents a federal-state partnership to enhance the science and engineering research, education, and technology capabilities of states that traditionally have received smaller amounts of federal R&D funds. Ramadan 2018 begins the evening of Tuesday, May 15, and ends the evening of Thursday, June 14. Ramadan is the ninth month of the lunar calendar. This month is important to Muslims since it is the month in which the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed by Allah to Prophet Muhammad (570-632 C.E.). We now have a number of Muslim students at the University of Idaho, mainly from Middle Eastern countries. Read more

The Associate Director for the University of Idaho Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES) will be a research active faculty member and recognized leader in an energy related discipline. The incumbent will be located in Idaho Falls, ID at CAES facility to 1) provide domain expertise and leadership in a research area relevant to the CAES mission, 2) facilitate the development of advanced world-class energy research in collaboration with the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), industry, and participating universities, and 3)provide local programmatic leadership to UI CAES related faculty and staff. This position requires an earned doctorate in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university and a preferred professional history that meets the criteria for tenure in an appropriate discipline. Under the general direction of the facility director and Custodial Services supervisor/foreperson, team cleaning specialists maintain clean and orderly facilities for students, faculty, staff and visitors. Team cleaning specialists secure the building; respond to special cleaning requests and schedule cleaning and maintenance activities as part of a self-directed team. Team cleaning specialists are expected to identify cleaning needs for special events and to work special events in any of our unit facilities. Team cleaning specialists are expected to perform each of the following jobs on a rotating basis: detail specialist, vacuum specialist, restroom specialist and utility specialist. Our directive is to maintain a safe, functioning and aesthetically pleasing environment for the many patrons of our facility.
